General Info
Welcome to The Fort
Worth Chapter of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club, chapter #24
of an international motorcycle Riding Club with over 27,000
members worldwide in over 400 chapters. We're a non-brand
specific club and we welcome riders of all makes.
We are chartered with the Texas Confederation of Clubs and the
Texas Motorcycle Roadriders Association.
We offer a no dues, few commitments environment. Participate at
least once per quarter (make a club ride, or come to a meeting).
That's it!
We do, however, ask a few things from our members:
Take the time to learn our
riding rules, don't do anything to give the club a bad name,
and, above all else, ALWAYS RIDE
SAFE!
The chapter can and will be involved with charity fund raising
rides, local and long distance rides, club dinner rides,
pie runs(!), and of course the impromptu (or
finger-in-the-wind) rides which may lead us anywhere. We also
promote Motorcycle and Public Safety rules,
Cost for membership is FREE. The club patch is optional and
costs only $37.50. T-shirts and other items are also optional
and are available from the
Club Store.
Chapter History
When the Chapter
was first formed in February of 1999, as the second SCRC chapter
in Texas, there were 12 original members. The chapter was dubbed
the "DFW Chapter".
The Officers and members of the original chapter immediately
chartered the chapter with the C.O.C. (Confederation of Clubs)
and the TMRA to align the club properly in the motorcycle
community within the state of Texas.
With the explosive growth of the club throughout the region by
October of 1999, it became necessary to split the chapter at the
county line between Dallas and Tarrant County to accommodate the
sheer number of members and reduce riding distances. Thus, the
Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters were founded.
As time has passed, and our club has continued its phenomenal
growth, we have seen additional regional chapters formed to
continue to best meet the needs of our members. We now have Fort
Worth, Dallas, Parker County, Rockwall County, Denton County,
and Wise County chapters, all composed of members originally
considered "DFW". What a testimony to the dedication of the
people who make this club what it is today.
Meetings
The chapter as a
whole has 12 formally scheduled meetings, one on each 3rd
Thursday of each month. In November we make nominations for the
election of the chapter First Officer and one in December to
vote in the First Officer Election. Monthly chapter meetings are
designed to announce chapter news and discuss rides but
primarily to socialize. In years past, only members who attended the election and
nomination meetings were allowed to nominate or vote. Starting
in 2005, we made a change to our policy that allows any member,
who is currently active on the roster, to cast an absentee
ballot, either by e-mail or by telephone, to any one on the
election committee. Email notification will be sent out to all
members prior to the election process, so this new policy can be
utilized.
Chapter Operations
The chapter is
composed of the general membership and the voluntary officers.
We will support charitable organizations by attending or
organizing and/or staffing rides benefiting these organizations.
You are NOT required to participate.
We may have 50/50 drawings at our meetings and rides to offset
the cost of printing membership cards and hosting our website.
You are NOT required to participate.
Members and officers are expected to observe the Code of Conduct
at all times.
There is no chapter club house or standard meeting spot – we
follow the ride calendar.
We hold Chapter meetings (optional) for ride planning and
chapter business. To vote on chapter issues or make changes to
the day-to-day operation you have to attend the meeting, this
meeting is listed on the ride calendar and you will receive an
e-mail before the meeting from the First Officer.

who want to become ride leaders on leading the group ride. We
will hold these rides once a quarter or every other month as
